Information for schools visiting Sculpture by the Sea

Sculpture by the Sea is very school friendly! The exhibition, which is free to the public, is a great place to bring curious students to view and engage with Australia’s premier sculpture exhibition and spectacular Cottesloe Beach.

Kids’ Guides to the exhibition with a site map and student oriented information about the artists and art works.  Filled with activities and interesting facts and figures the Kids’ Guide is a valuable tool when exploring the exhibition providing site-specific questions to assist teachers or parents facilitate discussion about specific artworks.

Cottesloe Beach has paved areas surrounded by grass and shade making it a suitable location for the children to enjoy their lunch break after or before touring the exhibition. Please ensure that care is taken to remove all rubbish from the area. Given that any excursions will be outside, we recommend the use of suncream and sunhats for all students (and teachers too!).

A bus drop-off point is on the beach-side of Marine Drive, Cottesloe Beach. This is well within easy walking distance of the exhibition for your students.
