Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe 2013 will be held from 8 - 25 March 2013 and we are currently accepting artist submissions for the exhibition. Last year we received almost 200 submissions from practically all over Australia and from 18 countries worldwide..

Sculpture by the Sea today announced three young NSW artists as recipients of the Clitheroe Foundation Emerging Sculptor Mentorships of $10,000. The 2012 recipients are Elyssa Sykes-Smith, Kate Stehr and Aaron Anderson.

Sculpture has a long-standing historic association with Chatsworth, one of Britain’s oldest estates. Since 2006 the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire have been hosting outdoor sculpture exhibitions in the magnificent grounds and this year marks the first monographic installation of a living sculptor’s work.

On Friday May 18 Hands Across the Water hosted their fourth annual ‘Night of Celebration’ dinner in Sydney to raise money for their various projects supporting children of Thailand that were orphaned by the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami.

Sculpture by the Sea is offering the opportunity for suitable Regional NSW towns to become involved in a leasing program whereby selected works from our Bondi exhibitions will be available to lease with the opportunity to grow the collection year on year, exchange works or acquire sculptures that prove to be favourites amongst the community.

Submissions are now open for the biennale Sculpture by the Sea, Aarhus 2013! With approximately 600,000 visitors over a period of four weeks, the exhibitions in 2009 and 2011 were fantastic successes.

Leading Beijing artist Wang Shugang was announced on Sunday, March 18th as the recipient of the Sculpture by the Sea People’s Choice Prize of $2,500 for his sculpture meeting 1. The sculpture of eight red men crouching in a circle drew the attention and fascination of the crowds throughout this years Cottesloe exhibition.

On Thursday morning at around 3am, the Chen Wen Ling Sculpture (Childhood – Morning) was intentionally broken in to two parts, snapped at its feet, with the upper part stolen from the site even though the destroyed work is no longer of any value.

Applications are open until 10 April for the 16th annual Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi exhibition from 18 October - 4 November 2012 with all Australian artists who submit proposals to be considered for one of the three $30,000 Helen Lempriere Scholarships, with a scholarship to be awarded to an emerging sculptor, a mid career sculptor and a senior sculptor.
