The call for artist submissions for Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2012 is now open!
Last year we received from countries as diverse as Sweden, Portugal, the Philippines, New Caledonia and Iran. From the submissions received we exhibited 109 works in our 2011 exhibition that were viewed by over 500,000 visitors.
Thanks to the continued funding from the NSW State Government, our sponsors and donors we are able to continue with the $2,000 minimum artist subsidy for those artists who do not net over $2,000 in sales, subsidies or prizes from the exhibition, while thanks to Transfield we are able to cover the cost of the heavy equipment for installation and de-installation.
A highlight of this year’s support for artists are the $30,000 Helen Lempriere Scholarships to be given to three Australian sculptors selected to exhibit in Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2012. The Scholarships are made possible by The Helen Lempriere Bequest, a charitable trust managed by Perpetual. All Australian citizens who apply to Sculpture by the Sea, who have been sculptors for at least 5 years or who are at least halfway through a relevant course of study, are eligible for the Helen Lempriere Scholarships.
