Support of Hands Across the Water

25-May-2012

On Friday May 18 Hands Across the Water hosted their fourth annual ‘Night of Celebration’ dinner in Sydney to raise money for their various projects supporting children of Thailand that were orphaned by the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami.

Sculpture by the Sea has supported this cause for some time and this year donated an ‘Artist Led Family Sculpture Workshop’ for 30 adults and children to take part in. This unique experience is a fantastic opportunity to gain a greater appreciation of sculpture and learn new skills in three-dimensional form. Developed and delivered by an artist exhibiting in Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2012, the workshop's activity is based on the artist's work in the exhibition, exploring their own sculptural practice, skills and techniques.

The workshop went under the hammer in a charity auction and raised a very helpful $3,500 for Hands Across the Water. Larry Fingleson, Managing Director at Priority Planners was the generous prize bidder and plans to invite his clients and team to take part in this unique event, working together to create an artwork of their own.

Visit the Hands Across the Water website for more information.
