Paper Plane Gallery - Shaped

09-May-2011

Just opened in early March this year, Paper Plane Gallery is an art and design space devoted to promoting emerging artists, designers and curators.

Their current exhibition is 'Shaped' from 5 - 22 May with 6 artists from Sydney College of the Arts: Ingrid van der Aa, Emma Hicks, Alex Powell, Elisa Trifunoski, Kate Williams and Mitchell Spider working together to exhibit a series of new artworks exploring the notions of non-objective art from a post-minimalist perspective.

Using sculpture, painting, installation and video, each artist exlplores the formal and forming qualities shape has within their own practice whilst creating a dialogue between the artworks and the gallery space. The artists focus on the materials and process used to create shape and challenge our perceptions of how we view them in the surrounding space.
