Where to begin with highlights of a show that has 109 sculptures, so many of which contribute in varied ways to the exhibition?

Founding director David Handley gives us his favourites of Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2011.
"First, although Sculpture by the Sea is an international exhibition, this year (and maybe very belatedly) I have felt that certain artists are creating a distinctly Australian genre of sculpture. At the forefront I would list Linda Bowden, Stephen King, Marcus Tatton and James Rogers. Through either materials or colour their sculptures evoke the Australian bush where not surprisingly most of them live. There is nothing loud about these works but they are strong and hardy just like the Australian bush."
"In addition to these works I thought I would be indulgent and list a handful of my other personal favourites this year:
- Zero Higashida
- Alessandra Rossi
- Michael Purdy
- Peter Lundberg
- Anne Ferguson
- Ken Unsworth
- Simon McGrath
- Phil Spelman
- Chen Wen Ling
- Daniel Clemmett
- Yoshio Nitta
- Koichi Ogino
- Greer Taylor."
