The high calibre production of Cabernet in this region is mainly due to the region having the ideal climate for the production of Bordeaux style wines.

The 2008 Thompson Estate Chardonnay is medium-bodied on the palate and is beautifully balanced with clean, natural acidity and a lingering aftertaste. It is similar to its 2007 counterpart which was awarded the trophy for the best Chardonnay in the world at the London International Wine and Spirits Competition, although it is more fully developed in style.
