Good news, all WA artists in next year’s Cottesloe exhibition will receive a minimum of $1,000 towards their costs of participating in Sculpture by the Sea. This funding is thanks to support which is currently anonymous but with whom we have been working for several months, so we are delighted to give you the news.
The way the minimum subsidy works is like a safety net to ensure that everyone from WA receives at least $1,000, as such if you don’t sell a sculpture or receive an award or another subsidy valued at more than $1,000 net then you receive this extra funding to make sure you get $1,000 towards your costs. For example if you sell a sculpture for $500 net of commission we will provide you with an additional $500. However, if you receive more than $1,000 net before site costs from then you do not get an additional amount. The idea is to provide as much as we can afford and so we are always talking to potential donors to seek funding like this for artists and hope to be able to make another good news announcement before the end of the year as it is our aim to increase this amount further.
Remember applications close on 29 July for our 2012 exhibition.
